When deciding which hotel to stay in, the first criteria should be where is the hotel located, in the town of Yangshuo or out in the countryside.

The hotels in Yangshuo generally get more exposure to street noise as well as some music and crowds for the restaurants, bars and nightclubs.

If you stay in the town, you have opportunities to go shopping and have only a short walk to find places to eat.
The hotels in the countryside offer quiet stays and some of them have spectacular views. They are closer to the sites that you will most likely visit and you can walk around the villages that are nearby. Some of these are restored old buildings where you can experience the past but in comfort.

These hotels are a better choice if you want to get away from the crowds and have a getaway while still experiencing rural China right up close. If you need to go into town then you can easily get a car to drive you.

Secret Garden

This is a brand new boutique hotel and we are sure that it will become very famous very quickly. The buildings were built during the Ming Dynasty and have been totally refurbished to a very high standard.

The location is also a huge plus. The village of Jiuxian is renowned for its old buildings and you will be walking amongst rice paddies and water buffalos. The Yulong River is only a short stroll away.

Li River Retreat

Views From The Li River Retreat

This hotel has been highly ranked for a few years now. We would rate it at 3 stars. The rooms are large and nicely decorated.

The one amazing feature about this hotel is the views. Every room has views to the mountains. The rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors also get to view the Li River.

The Li River Retreat is 2kms from Yangshuo and you can take a lovely walk along the riverside.

This hotel also has an excellent restaurant and a range of quality wines.

 Giggling Tree

The Giggling Tree is a guesthouse that uses the village’s old mud brick homes. The feeling is very rustic but the rooms are very comfortable and the place is very well run. It is also near to the Yulong River.

Mountain Retreat

The Mountain Retreat is Yangshuo’s original Retreat and is highly rated. The hotel is located right next to the Yulong River and offers excellent views.

Snow Lion Resort

The Snow Lion Resort is located in the village of Mushan which is very near to where the Liu Sanjie Sound and Light show is performed. This is a relatively new hotel with very good amenities.

Hotels in Yangshuo Town

Magnolia Hotel

We would rate this hotel as a 3 star hotel. The best rooms are their Imperial Suites. They also have excellent family rooms and budget standard rooms.

Rosewood Inn

This hotel is very similar to the Magnolia Hotel. The rooms are really nice and the location is right in the center of Yangshuo.

Morning Sun

The Morning Sun Hotel is a nice little hotel. It was one of the first hotels in Yangshuo to get away from being very basic.

7th Heaven

This is a nice little Guesthouse with very clean rooms. The location is away from the bar streets so it is quieter than most.

Climbers Inn

Another simple guesthouse. This one is a favourite with the climbing community.

Showbiz Inn

This is a very simple guesthouse favoured by the cheaper end of the backpacker market. They also have a lovely rooftop bar.
